Usk Castle
The History
Usk Castle was started in 1138 by Richard de Clare. Improvements were made in the 13th and 14th centuries. It was besieged and severly damaged by Owain Glyndwr in 1403, but repaired and held for Charles I in the Civil War. Parliament slighted the castle after the war.
What is Needed
The castle is in private hands and funds are needed for maintenance and preservation so that future generations can see and enjoy this historic castle. Contributions may be sent to the owners:
